Enjoy Eatz, Drinkz and Roomz at Sleeperz Hotel Newcastle

Planning a trip to Newcastle or surrounding areas? Can’t decide where to stay?

If you’re looking for something new and funky, look no further than Sleeperz Hotel in the heart of Newcastle. Established in 2010, this hotel is in a prime location.

Utilising disused land around central railway stations, these hotels (also in Cardiff) offer quirky accommodation, at a reasonable price. There’s no extra costs to pay for car parking (assuming you come by train of course!), or taxi fares from the station. You will not be dragging around endless streets trying to locate your hotel in the city centre labyrinth if you stay at this hotel.

You are greeted by young but helpful, staff in a colourful reception. There’s a fabulous feature wall (moreso if you are a reader which I am not! It’s an achievement for me to read just one book on a two week trip preferring to indulge in back episodes of Breaking Bad or such like on Netflix instead!).

It’s a trendy decor with for sofas in an ideal place to chill out and watch the world go by. A bar (serving drinkz), dining area (serving eatz), and 98 rooms (sleepz) over 5 floors are available. All are stylish in a modern and minimalist way. Free WIFI in each room is a bonus, especially as it doesn’t involve codes or tiresome registration and log-ins!!

If you decide to partake in the hotel grub, a reasonably priced menu is on offer serving all the usual suspects from burgers and chicken to steak, with these starting around the tenner mark. Bar prices are also reasonable and the breakfast buffet is £7.95.

Our 4th floor room is spacious and light and, following the overall theme of the hotel, colourful without being over the top. The large floor to ceiling windows offer views of the city, Tyne Bridge and train sleepers (nice link?). TV, coffee making facilities and numerous power points (which makes a change from some hotel rooms where you end up unplugging the free-standing light just to plug in the laptop or mobile phone!) adorn the room.

The bathroom is small but modern and clean, and the kingsize bed is comfy and inviting, especially after a night on the ‘toon.

Surprisingly, for a city centre hotel, it’s nice and quiet at night, and any loud revellers seem to be masked out. Maybe the glazing is doing the trick rather than the revellers being conscientious about the sleeping masses.

So if your trip to Newcastle is for socialising, this hotel is perfectly situated and within walking distance of all the facilities you might need. It’s just a stone’s throw to the bars of the town centre, or other options on the Quayside. It’s even within walking distance of rocking Ouseburn, with its outdoor live music stages.

If  you are feeling a little more cultural, the hotel could be the base for a number of excursions. Hadrian’s wall and any number of English Heritage sites are scattered within a short drive of the city, so if you fancy a bit of Roman, this is a great base.

With plans to expand into other major cities, there may soon be a Sleeperz near you.

Away the lads (and lasses!!)
